Concealed Handgun License Information
(Please Read Carefully!)
Both new applications and renewals are by appointment only. Please call 541-473-5126 to schedule your appointment.
New Applicants: At your appointment you will submit this application, be photographed, fingerprinted and fees will be collected. Please have a check or money order in the amount of $65.00 made payable to the Malheur County Sheriff’s Office or MCSO. We can also accept exact cash for the required $65 fee. You will also need to bring two current forms of identification proving your identity. One must be photo ID such as a driver’s license.
Renewal Applicants: At your appointment you will submit your application, be photographed and pay your renewal fee. You may pay in exact cash, money order or check in the amount of $50 made payable to the Malheur County Sheriff’s Office or MCSO. You will also need to bring your previous handgun license and current photo ID.
All fees are non-refundable and cover the cost of the background investigation and processing required by law.
In addition, at the time of application, you must be able to demonstrate competence by any of the methods provided by law as follows:
1. Completion of an NRA firearms safety or training course if handgun safety was a component of the course.
2. Completion of any handgun safety or training course or class available to the general public offered by law enforcement, community college or private institution or organization utilizing instructors certified by the NRA or a law enforcement agency. 3. Completion of any law enforcement firearms safety or training course offered for security guards, investigators, reserve law enforcement officers or any other law enforcement officer if handgun safety was a component of the course.
4. Presents evidence of equivalent experience with a handgun through participation in organized shooting competitions or military service.
5. Is licensed or has been licensed to carry a firearm in this state, unless license has been revoked.
